FREDERICTON – A New Brunswick man has been charged with attempted
murder after a woman was shot early Tuesday in Fredericton.
Thirty-seven-year-old Benjamin Nason of Beaverdam was arrested
following a day-long standoff with police in that community just
south of Fredericton.
He surrendered in early Tuesday evening without incident.
Police are alleging he shot a 40-year-old woman in Fredericton’s
Lincoln Heights neighbourhood earlier in the day.
Nason will return to court Monday for a bail hearing.
The 40-year-old woman suffered a single gunshot wound in the
incident, and was taken to hospital where she underwent surgery.
