SAINT JOHN, N.B.- The Horizon Health Network has restricted some of the privileges for a long time Saint John doctor facing sex charges.
Gastroenterologist Doctor Alan Cockeram has had eight new charges of sexual assault laid against him in connection with alleged incidents against female patients in his private office.
That’s on top of a sexual assault charge from 2011.
Cockeram is expected to be back in court June 17th for a preliminary hearing.
Horizon Health says it is restricting Cockeram’s privileges to treat female patients at its facilities for an undetermined amount of time and says it feels it has taken the appropriate measures to ensure patient safety.
The College of Physicians and Surgeons is also investigating the matter.

i agree doctor or not sexual assault is a serious crime, even more so when you are in a position of trust and authority like a doctor.
We have other people sitting in jail waiting for trial, why is this man still allowed on the street after all this time? And still able to do his practice? Two justice systems here I guess…
