SAINT JOHN, N.B. – The Saint John Board of Trade wants to keep the shale gas exploration file open in the province.
The group is endorsing the continued exploration of the controversial gas in New Brunswick.
B.O.T. Policy and Research Officer Patrick Beamish says the province needs to know what is there when it comes to shale gas before we have environmental discussions.
“The Board of Trade is not advocating that this go any further in terms of environment, economic and social impacts. But just understanding what’s there so we can determine as a province what’s best for us.”
The Board believes exploring shale gas is in the best interest of New Brunswick.
