(ST. STEPHEN)  RCMP say a 57-year-old man faces charges after an incident with three peace officers.

The Mounties say two of their officers were accompanying an SPCA official during an animal welfare investigation at a home in Upper Mills on Friday when the home’s owner became combative.
The Mounties allege the man assaulted the SPCA officer and when police attempted to make an arrest he assaulted one of the police officers.

The second police officer intervened and the man was taken into custody.

The man was later released and is to appear in St. Stephen provincial court at a later date.

Police say he is expected to face charges of assaulting peace officers and resisting arrest.
