FREDERICTON, N.B. – Premier David Alward will continue discussions with one of his provincial counterparts today on the subject of a west east pipeline for Alberta oil.

Alward is scheduled to speak with Quebec’s Pauline Marois today.

Alward says right now oil producers in Alberta are not currently receiving anywhere close to the value of their resource

“They’re being choked off because they only have one place for their product to go and that’s the Midwest of the US, which is already a saturated market. So they’re losing up to $40/barrel for that product.”

Today’s meeting follows meetings in Alberta recently with Premier Alison Redford as well as talks with pipeline officials and a tour of the oilsands themselves.
