SAINT JOHN, N.B.- City crews are tackling snow packed streets around Saint John today.
The city’s Municipal Operations Commissioner says plows and clean up equipment were out in full force at 7 this morning, once the storm was officially declared over.
Kevin Rice believes yesterday’s storm was more severe than last weekend’s. “The effect that, not only with the mount of snow with the high winds, we also had a heavy wet snow layer that was at the road surface that is causing us some issues with anchor ice and the ability to clean up the streets.”, says Rice. “We are facing some major challenges”.
An overnight snow parking ban has been declared for the South/Central Peninsula, starting at 11 o’clock tonight.
Six snow ban parking lots have been cleared for use by on-street parking residents beginning at 6PM

Part of the problem is that there is place to put thew snow. I live on St.George St. on the Lower Westside. I’m on a disability pension, shovelling is not a prime sport for me. Right now there is a meter high snow drift from the wind and the snowplow. I doubt the sidewalk plow will be able to do anything with it. And as for the driveway, which is one Watson St., as soon as the landlord has it plowed out the city comes by and fills it back in again. Such is life in Saint John.
SO WHAT IS NEW FOR SAINT JOHN NB.CANADA . THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR A LIFE TIME. AND DON,T EXPECT ANYTHING BETTER. AS YOUR NOT ABOUT TO GET IT . ANYTIME SOON. SAINT JOHN CANNOT LOOK AFTER THE PAVED STREET POT HOLES , LET ALONE .PLOW THEM. AND TO GET RID OF THE SNOW , WHY CAN,T THEY STILL DUMP , THE LOADS OF SNOW . OVER THE WHARF . DOWN BY THE COAST GUARD,S YARD. . OH YA. THAT WOULD BE TO EASY . SINCERELY, RAPID RALPHIE SMITH. # 35
