SAINT JOHN, N.B. – Saint John’s First Steps Housing Project is taking a big first step into evaluating its’ programs.

With $80,000 in federal funding, the non-profit group has invested in a social return on investment study.

Executive Director Sharon Amirault says you just have to look around the city to see the value of the services First Steps offers.

“Certainly the forty plus women who have graduated from high school who are now in the community. We see success with less women being on social assistance, less children in the foster care system.”

Amirault hopes the study will act as model for other service providers to determine the impact of their programs.
