SAINT JOHN, N.B.- It’s another potential coup for the Port of Saint John.
The announcement by Atlantic Potash of plans for a fertilizer plant employing 12 hundred people would mean increased business for the port.
President and C.E.O. Jim Quinn says they are very interested in a more detailed discussion with the company. “The product that they will be producing will be shipped through the port”, says Quinn. “We need to have a better appreciation from them in terms of the types of shipments that they’re going to have…will it be bulk, will it be containerized? What do they have in mind”.
Atlantic Potash says it plans on investing up to 450 million dollars in it’s Saint John operation with the hope of being up and running by 2017.
