SAINT JOHN, N.B.- A natural gas leak at the Imperial Theatre near King Square is keeping fire crews busy Wednesday afternoon.
The leak was reported just before 1:30.
District Chief of Special Operations, Lew MacDonald tells us the leak is under the Imperial Theatre which has been evacuated.
He says the scene was contained quickly:
“We have evacuated the Imperial Theatre and we’ve done readings in the Admiral Beatty and the Imperial,” he explains. ” There’s no gas in them, it’s dissipating into atmosphere. At this point, we’re working with Enbridge for their crews to come in to pinch off the line.”
Meanwhile, traffic is being re-routed down Charlotte away from King Square south.
