SAINT JOHN, N.B. – It was a scary surprise for New Brunswickers on the eve of Halloween.

A late October nor’easter hit the province yesterday, smashing weather records and knocking out power.

Metreologist Richard Zurawski says the province received a lot of snow for this time of year. “We received up to 16cm to 17cm of snow in New Brunswick, especially in the Saint John region. Moncton received between 6cm and 7cm”

But when it came to rainfall, Moncton receive the most. The city was drenched with 45mm of rain.

Zurawski says trick or treaters will have a cold but clear Halloween. Tonight’s lows are expected to dip below freezing.
