Vaccine Shortage Prompts Postponements And Restrictions
FREDERICTON, NB - New Brunswick health officials have announced a number of clinic closures for the next several days as the province continues to deal with a vaccine shortage. H1N1 priority groups have changed and restrictions are in effect. Clinic closures have been announced throughout southeastern New Brunswick after an unforeseen shortage of the vaccine this week at the national level. There are four H1N1 immunization clinics in the Saint John area that will not be running as originally advertised. The St. John the Baptist/King Edward clinic is cancelled today, as well Millidgeville North on Woodward Avenue, MacDonald Consolidated School Kingston and Rothesay Park School. Meanwhile, Valerie Kilfoil, Director of Communications for the Department of Education says, "School absenteeism is being closely monitored this week with daily reports being available." Kilfoil says, "Black's Harbour and Pennfield School, two of five schools closed last week in District 10 will re-open today because of scheduled vaccination clinics." |
