Premier Praises New Brunswick's H1N1 Program

MONCTON, NB - As the Harper government gets an earful from the opposition for its handling of the H1N1 vaccination program, Premier Shawn Graham is praising New Brunswick's campaign.

Despite the postponement of some clinics in the province, Graham says we're ahead of other provinces.

He says 82-thousand New Brunswickers have received the H1N1 flu shot.

Speaking on "The Drive" with Dan Ahlstrand, Graham says more people in New Brunswick have been vaccinated per capita than in any other province.

He says the province has handled vaccinations well, despite sudden extra demand for the shots.

Graham says, "The fact is, last week our province was the first jurisdiction in all of Canada to start immunizing its citizens, to start the inoculation program."

Meanwhile, as the country deals with a shortage of the vaccine provincial health officials are out with a new list of clinic postponements.

All clinics scheduled today in the Saint John area have been cancelled, that includes clinics at Back Bay Elementary, Hammond River Valley Elementary, Lawrence Station, Quispamsis Elementary, Champlain Heights Elementary and St. Rose Elementary.

Chief Medical Health Officer, Dr. Eilish Cleary says every resident wishing to have the vaccination will still have the opportunity to do so.

Cleary says more vaccine is being delivered Wednesday.
