Tourism industry told to strengthen relationships with other operators, governments
SAINT JOHN - The minister of state for tourism believes collaboration is necessary to move the industry forward. Diane Ablonczy addressed the future at the start of a tourism leadership summit in Saint John. Ablonczy said Canada's provinces and territories work well together to promote internationally the country's positive tourism attributes. But she said they continue to spar among one another, and that has to stop for the industry to grow. Ablonzcy said industry stakeholders, including government, have recognized that they have to work together. "The only real path to success is to roll up our sleeves, put practical ideas on the table, and each take an active part in making positive change," Ablonczy said, speaking to an audience at the Saint John Trade and Convention Centre. Ablonczy said the upcoming Vancouver Olympics present a "once-in-a-generation" opportunity for tourism operators to make Canada a must-visit destination. |
