Dropping anchor on another cruise season
SAINT JOHN - The 2009 cruise ship season comes to a close today with the arrival and departure of the Queen Mary 2 at the Saint John Port. The ship is the last of more than 70 that were expected to make a port of call on the city. Manager of Business Development Betty MacMillan said it's been a good season. "All in all we had a really successful cruise season," she said. "We're expecting that the numbers are going to come in at 185-186,000." MacMillan said she's not sure how much money would have been pumped into the local economy, but she said Saint John and surrounding communities were very busy with tourists this year. |
