Former energy minister continues criticism of NB Power deal
Fredericton, N.B. - Bruce Fitch says it'll take a lot more than a million-dollar add campaign to convince him the proposed deal that would see NB Power sold to Hydro Quebec is good for New Brunswick. The former energy minister told Tom Young today on the Afternoon News that the Liberals should not be spending taxpayers money to promote the plan. He says Liberal claims that rates will continue to be governed by the Energy and Utilities Board are false. "If there's further demand or if Quebec comes in and says look, we've made an improvement to this line, the EUB has no choice but to raise the rates and approve Quebec's expenditures," Fitch says. Also, Fitch says potential green energy projects will be trumped by Hydro Quebec's needs. |
