Games cancelled but no swine flu as of yet
Quispamsis, N.B. - Sickness has led to the cancellation of some games in the KV Minor Hockey Association, but league president Darren Zwicker says there have been no confirmed cases of H1N1. Zwicker says seasonal flu is common in the fall, but notes the numbers are higher than usual. He says Hockey Canada has instructed coaches to educate players concerning precautions, which include ensuring each player has their own water bottle, and to avoid hand shaking. Zwicker says parents can help as well. "The parents should discuss with kids at home about proper hygiene and hand washing so it's a combination of what they hear at home and the message we deliver along with Hockey Canada," Zwicker says. Some games have been cancelled in the Fundy Minor Hockey League as well. |
