Minor hockey affected by player absences
SAINT JOHN - KV Minor Hockey president Darren Zwicker said although there are no confirmed cases of H1N1 as of yet among the league's 1,000 players, some games have been cancelled as a result of sickness. Zwicker said the numbers are higher than normal for this time of year, while Fundy Minor Hockey shut down last week due to low numbers as a result of sickness. Zwicker said precautions have been laid out by Hockey Canada. "Don't remove your gloves before they shake hands so it's more of a glove tap than a hand shake and each player having their own water bottle," he said. He said parents need to ensure their kids take precautions as well while at the rink. |
