Long Line Ups Expected At Mass Vaccination Clinic In Saint John
SAINT JOHN, NB - After dozens of clinic postponements in the past week a mass H1N1 vaccination clinic for priority groups is being held in Saint John today. Hundreds of people are expected to converge on the Barrack Green Armoury, 60 Broadview Avenue for the day long clinic from 8:30 this morning until 9 tonight. Public health nurses will work two shifts to vaccinate as many people in the priority groups as possible. Priority groups are defined as children 6 months to 18 years, pregnant women, parents of children under 6 months old and First Nations people living on reservations only. Public health has not indicated how many inoculations are available. Alissa Lee, Director of Communications for the H1N1 Pandemic says clinic schedules for remaining priority groups and the general public will depend on vaccine shipments in the coming weeks. Lee says, "The province is expecting 22-thousand doses next week, that's double the 11,000 doses this week but its still far less than expected." Meanwhile, there was a two to three hour wait for the vaccine at a mass clinic in Sussex yesterday where it's reported over a thousand people were inoculated. |
