SAINT JOHN, NB - The need for New Brunswick to implement catastrophic drug coverage will be front and centre tonight at a meeting in Saint John.
New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island are the only two provinces in Canada that do not offer a program to aid citizens with expensive drug care costs.
Spokesman, Terry Crowe who suffers from a serious form of arthritis says it's time New Brunswick protect residents from undue financial hardship:
"It should be a pro-rated plan that is to do with a person's family income and they should not have to go above six per cent of it because what they're doing in New Brunswick is they're driving people into the poor house," says Crowe.
Representatives from the Arthritis Society, Canadian Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation and Health Charities Alliance will be on hand for the meeting tonight at 6pm at the Ganong Hall Lecture Theatre at UNBSJ.
