SAINT JOHN - Forward Mike Hoffman, the leading scorer for the Saint John Sea Dogs in the 2009-10 season, is expected to sign an entry-level contract with the NHL's Ottawa Senators this week.

A source confirmed to News 88.9, Hoffman will ink a deal Friday.

Hoffman, 20, was selected by the Senators in the fifth round, (130th overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.

In his only season with Saint John, the Kitchener native netted 46 goals and 85 points in just 56 games en route to being named the 2009-10 QMJHL Most Valuable Player.

He added 11 goals and 24 points in 21 playoff games, and helped the Sea Dogs earn a berth in the President's Cup.
