Niki Jabbour Hosted by popular gardening guru, Niki Jabbour, the Weekend Gardener, covers a wide range of topics relating to gardening in Atlantic Canada. Themes include container gardening, dealing with pests, growing vegetables and herbs, hardy perennials, the basics of composting and much more! Niki will be joined every Sunday morning by a variety of interesting guests from across the country, offering insight, advice and answers to all of your gardening questions. So, please join us for the Weekend Gardener every Sunday morning from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Born and raised in Halifax, N.S., Niki grew up playing among the peonies, roses and forget-me-nots in her mother’s garden. In her final year at Dalhousie University, she realized that she wanted to study horticulture and after graduation, enrolled at the Nova Scotia Agriculture College in Truro on an impulse. Now an ornamental horticulturist and freelance writer, she has been working in the Maritime horticultural industry for the past thirteen years and was the gardening columnist at the Halifax Daily News for 11 years. Fertilized by sea breezes, her gardens are comprised of a colourful mixture of perennials, annuals, vegetables, herbs and flowering shrubs, with a few patches of clover and chickweed thrown in for good measure.
